In 2 days.. at 10:20 am ill be boarding the MV explorer on its 97th voyage around the world, along with 700 or so other lucky students who enrolled in UVA's Semester at Sea program.
The cruise ship will be my home for the next three and a half months as it moves from South America to Africa and than on to Asia. There will be classes on the boat, adventures on land and hopefully an uncountable amount of life-changing experiences.
Ill keep you posted with photos and the things Ive been doing. Also, check out the links to travelskoot.com, which will bring you to maps of the places ive explored, vegged out and mangia'ed.
I have no idea what to expect... except that it won't be like staying in jersey (well at least i hope).

Hi Jackie,
I'm a friend of your mom, (who by the way is VERY proud of you and your sister!). Congratulations on this great journey. I graduated from U. Va. in 1986 (go Hoos!). I didn't do anything nearly this exciting while in college, so I'm looking forward to vicariously traveling with you! Have a great time. The world is yours!
be blessed,
Donna Hamilton
Have fun Jacki and be safe! :-)
How was it sailing through the Carribean with Hurricanes Gustav and Hanna? Have you crossed the equator yet? Hope you will write about the equator-crossing ceremony. Don't shave you head! Say hello to King Neptune.
Jen
Hey.. OH Gustav was a treat.. i dodnt get sick but i was pretty sea sick. For hurricanes though we all expected worse. The captain added 75 miles to our route to avoid the storms and by the morning the boat was steady.. thank the lord
